Step 1 – Provide Perspective

The sovereignty of God is emphasized in this step of counseling, since many counselees often lose sight of the fact that God is in control while in the midst of their trials. Counselees are also given hope when they are shown from Scripture that everything that is happening in their lives has been foreordained by God, and will ultimately work together for their good and His glory (Romans 8:28). This step is one which distinguishes IRBC’s methodology from the steps observed by the mainstream of biblical counselors.
